Merry Xmas

I would like to say to everyone Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. The year of 2007 went so quick, now is time to rest, get a few days away from work and do a bit of travelling.

My wife and I are going to Perth, we are going to rent a campervan and travel around. I will leave you with a picture of me and one of our recently acquisition. See you next year.

BlogActionDay: Being Environment Friendly By Using Google Notebook

Blog Action Day LogoThis blog post is part of the Blog Action Day, which is a project to bright together bloggers to write about the environment.

I’ve been using the a lot of the Google Apps recently so I decide to talk about Google Notebook and why I think you should use it in order to be more environment friendly.

Google Notebook is an application that allows you to take notes while you browse the web. I don’t know if you use to do like me while I am in front of the computer but what I used to do was I generally use the post it, that famous peace of yellow paper, and I took notes of everything, things that I reminded that I had to do, even some websites that wasn’t relevant enough to put in the bookmark.

This is where Google Notebook comes in, now you can take notes of everything on it and you can also access it from anywhere. In this way you will save some piece of paper which consequently will save trees and also space on the bin later on.

This is a very small action from a very small blog, but I am sure that every action counts. ;-)

Facebook Economy

Last month CNN Money put up an article titled The Facebook Economy. The Article is very worth reading. It talks about people and companies writing applications for Facebook and the business model involved.

It is not a surprise that most of them base their model on advertisement, but what is a surprise, at least for me, it is the number of Facebook users that a single application can have. There are some numbers in the article in the range of millions.

Third party applications on Facebook are possible because the social website had opened their platform making available an API that anyone can integrate with and also monetize it, which had attracted many developers.

Google Docs, the real ASP!

Application Service Provider, when I first heard that the first think that came to my mind was a Microsoft Word like application being able to work in a browser. I can’t remember which year was it, but I can tell you that was a long time ago.

Today when I watched this video bellow, I thought we finally got there, the day that Word got into the browser.

The Overseas dream!

My wife and I just got today the news that our Australian Permanent Resident Visa was approved. It is a very happy moment for us.

I am living in Australia since March 2004 and it was a long way for me since I first got here. As many of you my Portuguese readers might remember from my post on “Perdido pelo Mundo” I came here to study English for 4 months then decide to extend my visa to study IT and at the same time got a part time job in IT too.

The year of 2006 was a great year I met my wife, I finished school I got my sponsor I got married. It was full of great things, the best year of my life so far.

Now 2007 is going to be the year that we became Australian Permanent Resident. And we are very happy to be part of this nation.

30 Years old

Cake 30 years oldOh! Yeah! Last month I completed 30 years old. What a crazy thing? I don’t know why everyone, including me, make a big deal out of the 30 years.

But besides of this big number, I think I have a lot of stuff to celebrate. I like to think about the fact that I crossed the world I am here surviving and very happy, of course.

You can view clearly on this picture my reason to be happy, and I am not talking about the cake. My wife, that is always with me and it is my company and my friend for all times and she knows it.

Thanks for everyone that was there and helped me to go through this big deal of 30 years old. Love you all.
